Nutritional values
Plenti® is stacked with high quality proteins and is very rich in dietary fibers. It contains low quantities of fat and carbohydrates. But above all Plenti® is delicious and easily applied in any of your favorite dishes, making it very accessible for anyone to enjoy a sustainable meal.
Plenti® is produced sustainably in our own gluten-free factory. We use a production technique that is known as extrusion. This technique creates textures out of materials and ingredients, for example crisps, pasta, candy or ice-cream. But this technique is also used to manufacture textiles from recycled plastic bottles or biodegradable packaging materials.
By means of the extrusion process, water and soy flour are kneaded together under pressure and temperature and cooled again. This creates a firm, juicy and fibrous structure: Plenti®.
100% of the soybean flour we use is grown and harvested in Europe, and is always GMO-free. Soy lowers your LDL cholesterol and has a huge advantage in keeping blood vessels healthy.
The amino acid composition of soy is close to the one of meat. It is not without reason that soy is used in many different food products. At the same time, we are aware of the sensitivities surrounding raw materials and we are constantly looking for new possibilities to obtain locally available raw materials.
Animal proteins versus plant proteins
Livestock is consuming a lot of plant-based proteins (e.g. soya) in their lives. In the graph the amount of kilograms dry plant-based protein that is needed to produce 1 kilogram of dry animal protein is shown. If we would consume these plant-based proteins directly, instead of feeding it to livestock, we would need much less land, energy and water, resulting in a reduction of CO2-emissions. Plant-based meat substitutes are more efficient to feed the world’s population.
Beyond the sustainable benefits of this new way of protein production, more research show lots of health benefits that are connected to an increased plant-based diet.
